PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (the Company) PT. Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk ("Mobile-8" or the "Company") was incorporated in December 2002. Mobile-8 commenced its commercial cellular services in December 2003 by its well known brand “FREN”. In 2006, Mobile-8 introduced 3G high speed services based on CDMA2000 1x EV-DO technonlogy. In 2007 Mobile-8 obtained Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) license and launched commercially in mid 2008. In April 2008, Mobile-8 was the first CDMA operator in the world who joined the GSM Association, and introduced a new feature called “World Passport” which enables Mobile-8 subscribers to roam in GSM network. In mid 2009 Mobile-8 launched its “FREN DUO” which leverage the full mobility feature and low interconnect tariff (cellular and FWA) under the under the CDMA 2000-1X network platform.Currently, Mobile-8 operate approximately 1500 BTS, covering the whole of Java, Bali, Batam, Lampung, some areas of North and South Sumatra, South and East Kalimantan, and North and South Sulawesi. In June 2009, Mobile-8 has 3 million subscribers for all cellular, FWA, and data services.
